Here is a brief summary of Mayor Andrew Hardwick's outstanding contributions for the Latino community:

Despite many years of contributions to the Incorporated Village of Freeport by way of economic growth, cultural diversity, and community advocacy, Latino Empowerment was rarely encouraged and acknowledged by Freeport government. Since being elected in 2009, Andrew Hardwick has been an advocate to have Freeport’s Latino community recognized and visible in the government which he diligently servers as the Mayor. He has hired or appointed 52 members of the Latino Community within his administration.  His most significant measures to support Latino Empowerment in Freeport’s government were:

~Appointing Freeport first Latino Police Chief

~Appointing two Latino Trustees as Deputy Mayor

~Appointing several members of the Latino community to various Village Boards and Commissions such as the Housing and Community Development Agency.

~Consistently supporting transparency for the Latino community by issuing bilingual community and emergency notifications.

~Providing funding to various non-profits that support the Latino community in the areas of anti-gang awareness, immigration, and education.

~Secured funding for Latino businesses

Mayor Andrew Hardwick has always and will continue to initiate various ways to further empower Freeport’s Latino community by bridging strong positive relationships with members of the Latino clergy, state and federal government, and dignitaries in communities abroad.
